Match Preview

EURO 2020 champions, Italy, will visit St. Jakob-Park, Switzerland's headquarters in the 5th match of the 2022 World Cup Qualification for the European Zone Group C, Monday (06/09/2021) at 12:15 midnight. Indian time.

At the EURO 2020 event, Italy and Switzerland met in the 2nd match of the group phase. In the match that took place at the Stadio Olimpico, Italy successfully beat Switzerland with a convincing score of 3-0. Manuel Locatelli became the star of Gli Azzurri's victory with 2 goals in the 26th and 52nd minutes, while Ciro Immobile scored another goal in the 89th minute.

In the previous match, Italy was held to a draw by Bulgaria with a score of 1-1. Having taken the lead through Federico Chiesa's fantastic goal in the 16th minute, Italy, in the end, had to be willing to share the points after Bulgaria equalized in the 39th minute through Atanas Iliev's goal.

With these results, Italy is now comfortably at the top of Group C with a collection of 10 points from 4 matches that have been played (W3 D1 L0).

Meanwhile, Switzerland is currently trailing Italy by occupying the second position in Group C standings with 6 points from the 2 matches they have played (W2 D0 L0).

Switzerland in their last match managed to win over Greece with a score of 2-1 in the test match last Thursday through goals from Steven Zuber and Ruben Vargas. The victory made Switzerland only swallow 1 defeat in its last 4 matches (W3 D0 L1).
